心统性情中国北宋哲学家张载关于人性论的重要命题。这个命题确定了心、性、情三者的关系。用现代的语言来说，所谓心，指精神作用；所谓性，指普通的理性；所谓情，指普通的情操。"心统性情"是指人的精神作用包括理性和情操。《性理大全》卷三十三引："张子曰：心统性情者也。有形则有体，有性则有情。发于性则见于情，发于情则见于色，以类而应也。"在中国哲学史上，孟子首先论及心与性情的关系问题,他说："尽其心者,知其性也，知其性则知天矣"（《孟子·尽心上》）。他认为，仁义礼智之性根于心，尽心则能知性，性、情都是心所固有的。董仲舒说："心有哀乐喜怒"，"心有计虑"。哀乐喜怒是情，计虑是知，心兼含情知，心有主宰情欲的能力。张载则明确提出"心统性情"的命题。他认为，心是总括性情与知觉而言的,"合性与知觉,有心之名"；性是根本的，"天授于人则为命，亦可谓性。人受于天则为性,亦可谓命"；"性即天也",所以"性又大于心"，有性再加知觉,便成为心；性之发为情,情亦是心的内容。朱熹发挥了张载"心统性情"的思想，使之成为理学人性论的重要组成部分。朱熹说："横渠云"心统性情",此说极好"，他解释说："统,犹兼也。心统性情，性情皆因心而后见，心是体，发于外谓之用。""性者，理也。性是体,情是用,性情皆出于心，故心能统之。"认为心有体有用，心之体是性，心之用是情，性情皆由心中发出。他比喻说，心如水，性如水之静，情如水之流。张载、朱熹强调"心统性情"，其主要意义在于表明，进行精神修养既须认识本性，又须培养情操、调节情感。
